Saint Anselm Sends Seniors Out With Win

Hawks Dominate Game, Win 38-6

Manchester, N.H. (November 3, 2001)-The Saint Anselm football team dominated from start to finish, sending its senior class off with a 38-6 win over Stonehill on Senior Day in a Northeast-10 Conference game at Grappone Stadium on Saturday.

Saint Anselm racked up 525 yards of total offense and held Stonehill to 231 yards. The Hawks used a balanced attack with 307 passing and 218 rushing yards on 48 carries. The Hawks also controlled the clock with 35:07 in time of possession.

With the win, Saint Anselm improves to 5-4 overall, 5-4 in NE-10 play. Stonehill falls to 4-6 overall, 3-6 in the Northeast-10.

Senior quarterback Keith Comeau (Marblehead, Mass./ Marblehead) had his best day of the season, completing 22 of 31 passes for 292 yards, three touchdowns and just one incorruption. Senior running back Jon Turner (Foxboro, Mass./ Foxboro) also had a solid day, rushing for 136 yards and one touchdown and averaging 6.5 yards per carry.

Saint Anselm led 21-0 after one quarter and 31-0 at halftime. The Hawks led 38-0 before Stonehill added a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks started things five minutes into the game with a 43-yard TD pass from Comeau to Jeff Farragher (Clinton, Mass./ Clinton). After a five-yard run by Turner, Farragher struck again with a 32-yard catch and run. A six-yard scamper by Kevin Ridgley (Amesbury, Mass./ Amesbury) was followed by a 27-yard field goal by Erol Senel (S. Euclid, Ohio/ Benedictine) before the half.

Farragher finished the day with four catches for 96 yards, while Matt Santiago (Clinton, Mass./ Clinton) had a game-high five catches for 71 yards.

In the second half, Comeau threw a 4-yard TD pass to junior Pat Martin (Stoughton, Mass./ Stoughton), who wrestled the ball away from a Stonehill defender.

Stonehill's Rob Oliver (Reading, Mass./ Reading) put the Chieftains on the board with an 11-yard run for the final margin.

Saint Anselm returns to action next Saturday when the Hawks travel to New Haven, Conn. for the team's regular season finale against Southern Connecticut State.
