Colleen Moriarty is in her sixth season as an assistant coach for the Saint Anselm women's basketball team in 2021-22.
In Moriarty's three seasons on the Hilltop, the Hawks have a combined record of 79-39, including a 54-28 mark in the Northeast-10 Conference, and have made the NE10 postseason tournament in each season.
In 2019-20, Saint Anselm earned its ninth appearance in the NCAA Division II Championship since becoming a varsity program in 1976. Posting the team's second consecutive 20-win campaign, Moriarty and the Hawks made it all the way to the NE10 championship game for the first time in 22 years. The Hawks earned the NCAA berth with a strong 20-4 record against in-region opponents and were ranked as high as fourth in all of NCAA Division II during the season.
With Moriarty's assistance, the Hawks won the NCAA Division II East Region Championship in 2018-19, securing the program's first trip to the Elite Eight in Columbus, Ohio. The seventh-seeded Hawks upset three-straight teams in the East Regional and finished the season with 22 wins, the most in one season since 1994-95. Saint Anselm's victory over Bentley in the NCAA East Region First Round was the squad's first over a nationally-ranked opponent since Jan. 11, 2014, a 61-55 victory against the Panthers from Adelphi University at home.
In 2016-17, Saint Anselm advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament for the first time in 17 years after winning its first NE10 Championship game since 2004. Saint Anselm finished 2017-18 with a 17-12 record and made its third-straight appearance in the NE10 Championship.
Moriarty came to the Hilltop after being an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at UMass Boston during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. At UMass Boston, she assisted in the most successful seasons in program history that saw the Beacons finish as the Little East Conference (LEC) Championship finalists in both years.
Moriarty helped develop and mentor the post players at UMass Boston, including Kirsten Morrison ('15) and Olivia Murphy ('16), who were both multiple-time All Little East Conference selections and scored over 1,000 points in their careers.
Prior to her time at UMass Boston, Moriarty was an assistant for the Canton High School girls varsity basketball program in 2013-14.
Moriarty attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, graduating in 2013 with a degree in business (marketing). She was a four-year member of the women's basketball team, finishing her career with 1,219 points. Moriarty was named the 2012-13 LEC Player of the Year (first in program history), an ECAC First Team All-Star and was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association All-Northeast Region and D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region teams.
In her senior season, Moriarty led the Corsairs to the best record in school history (20-8) by averaging a LEC-high 19 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. She also served as a team captain as a sophomore, junior and senior.
Upon graduation, Moriarty played for the Brockton Lady Thunder, a semi-professional basketball team. She currently resides in Manchester.
