Century McCartney joined head coach Corey Boilard's coaching staff for the Saint Anselm College women's basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2024-25 season. McCartney enters her third season on the Hilltop as the Hawks prepare for the 2026-27 campaign.
McCartney and the Hawks started the season 6-0, the team's best start since the 2019-20 season. Saint Anselm closed out the 2025-26 season with a 12-11 record including a 7-11 mark in NE10 action. Under McCartney's guidance, senior Tatum Forbes was named NE10 Player of the Year, with a Hawk winning the award for the second consecutive season. Forbes was also named to the NE10 All-Conference First Team, D2CCA East Region Player of the Year, D2CCA All-East Region First Team, and a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention. Junior Elise MacNair earned a spot on the NE10's All-Conference Third Team and was joined by senior Anna Nelson on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team.
In her first season at Saint Anselm, McCartney and the Hawks went 18-10 with a 14-6 record in Northeast 10 Conference play, earning the No. 2 seed heading into NE10 postseason play. The Hawks fell in the first round of the conference tournament, but earned an at-large bid as the No. 4 seed in the Division II NCAA East Regional, defeating No. 5 Southern Conn. State 59-41 in the first round before falling to top-seeded Bentley, 60-55, in the second round. McCartney played a vital role in the development and success of the NE10 Player of the Year, Melanie Hoyt. Hoyt was also named D2CCA East Region Player of the Year and a WBCAÂ All-America Honorable Mention honoree. Three other Hawks, junior Tatum Forbes, sophomore Elise MacNair, and freshman Addisen Sulikowski earned NE10 All-Conference honors after the Hawks impressive season.
McCartney joined the Saint Anselm College women's basketball program after five seasons as a division one college basketball player, playing three seasons at Northeastern University before closing out her career at Portland State University.
McCartney appeared in 44 games with three starts for the Huskies, averaging 2.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 14.7 minutes per game. In her first season at Portland State, McCartney started 30 of the Vikings’ 31 games, averaging 26.3 minutes, 6.0 points, and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 38.9 percent from the floor. Her senior year at Portland State was cut short due to injury but she started nine of 10 games she appeared in, averaging 3.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in 27.2 minutes per contest. McCartney was named to the Academic All-Big Sky Team in 2022-23.
A native of the Bronx, N.Y., McCartney attended Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, Conn., followed by another two years at The Ogburn School in Fernandina Beach, Fla. She was named MVP of her team at The Ogburn School and won a Naugatuck Valley League title with her Holy Cross team, the same year she and the team made the state quarterfinals. McCartney earned all-league and all-state honors during her time at Holy Cross.
McCartney graduated with her bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice from Portland State University in 2024.
