Saint Anselm College head softball coach
Alyssa Williamson has announced the hiring of
Andrea Bruneau '08, as the program's assistant coach in January of 2026.
Bruneau will also assist
Sagemarie George, Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Team Logistics, as a Compliance Coordinator in the athletic department.Â
"We are thrilled to welcome Andrea back to the Hilltop as the newest member of our coaching staff," said Williamson. "Bruneau brings an enthusiastic presence and a genuine passion for the sport that will be an asset to our program. As an alum, Andrea is deeply rooted in our culture and traditions. We are excited for the energy, knowledge, and commitment she will bring to our student-athletes."
Bruneau, a member of the Saint Anselm College softball team from 2005 to 2007, returns to the Hilltop with more than 15 years of coaching experience across the high school, travel, and college showcase levels.
While at Saint Anselm, Bruneau played multiple positions, including pitcher and outfielder. As a Hawk, Bruneau appeared in 54 games with 42 starts, hitting .244 with 31 hits, 24 runs scored, 10 runs batted in, two home runs, two triples, and 13 stolen bases. She also pitched in six games with five starts, posting two complete games and a 2.60 earned run average in 32.1 innings pitched.
Bruneau most recently spent the past five seasons as head coach of Granite State Elite (14U-18U), a competitive fastpitch travel softball program. During her tenure, her teams have produced consistent winning records, including five tournament championships and five runner-up finishes. All nine of her eligible seniors from the 18U program were recruited to play collegiate softball in 2025. She was also named Granite State Elite Coach of the Year in 2024.
She also works as a private pitching and hitting instructor, providing guidance to softball players from ages 10-18. Bruneau also served as head coach of her alma mater, Souhegan High School in Amherst, N.H., for nine seasons from 2008 to 2017. The team made nine playoff appearances with winning records in each season, also making four final fours. Bruneau was named the NHIAA Division II Coach of the Year in 2017.
Off the field, she brings 13 years of higher education leadership experience, including roles in student success operations and organizational leadership. Bruneau spent four years as a Team Lead & Academic Coach at Southern New Hampshire University's College for America before spending five years as a Team Lead for SNHU's Campus of Online Learning.
Most recently, Bruneau worked as a Senior Organization Transformation Consultant at Deo Mwano Consultancy, strategizing and facilitating internal cultural change for various clients such as Dartmouth College and the New Hampshire Food Coop.
Bruneau received her MBA in organizational leadership from Southern New Hampshire in 2023 and holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Saint Anselm.
A native of Amherst, New Hampshire, Bruneau resides in Concord, N.H. with her husband Mike and her son Charlie.
