Mathew Howe

Mathew Howe finished his second season as the goaltender coach on the Saint Anselm College staff in 2026.

As the program’s lead goalkeeper coach, Howe brings technical expertise and a player-first development approach to the position. In 2025, his work directly contributed to the emergence of Finn Granara, who earned First Team NEILA, Second Team All-NE10, Third Team USILA All-North Region, and USILA Honorable Mention All-American honors, highlighting Howe’s ability to develop elite talent at the collegiate level.

A native of Bedford, N.H., Howe was a standout goalkeeper at Bedford High School, where he earned US Lacrosse High School All-American honors and established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the region. His success at the high school level led to a collegiate career at Keene State College, where he played four seasons for the Owls from 2015-18.

During his collegiate career, Howe was a three-year starter for Keene State and earned Second Team All-Little East Conference (LEC) honors during his career. He established himself as a dependable presence in goal, producing multiple standout performances against top regional competition while providing consistent leadership on the defensive end.

Following his playing career, Howe transitioned into coaching, returning to Bedford High School where he has coached alongside head coach Drew Bourdeau since 2022. His impact was immediate, and in 2023, Howe was named the NHIAA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year. During the 2024 season, Howe helped coordinate the highest-scoring offense in the NHIAA, while also contributing to a historic run that saw the Bedford Bulldogs reach their first-ever NHIAA Division I State Championship game, finishing the season as state runners-up.

Howe’s combined experience as a high-level player, award-winning high school coach, and collegiate position coach continues to make a significant impact on the Saint Anselm men’s lacrosse program, both on the field and in the development of student-athletes.
