Eric Coburn wrapped up his fourth season at Saint Anselm College as an assistant coach in 2026.
During his tenure at Saint Anselm College, Coburn has established himself as one of the top defensive coordinators in Division II. In both 2023 and 2024, he guided the Hawks’ defense to an 11th-place national ranking, before elevating the unit to seventh in the country in 2025 before reaching as high as No. 2 nationally in 2026. Across his four-year tenure, Coburn has coached six All-Americans on the defensive end, while also developing elite individual defenders. In 2023 and 2024, his unit produced the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and the USILA North Region Defender of the Year in each season.
Coburn began his collegiate coaching career in 2019 at Rivier University, serving as the Defensive Coordinator. Under his leadership, the Raiders ranked fourth nationally in man-down defense (83.2%), first nationally in clearing percentage (92.4%), and 40th nationally in scoring defense (9.06 goals allowed per game). That season also marked a milestone for the program, as Rivier earned its first GNAC conference playoff win in program history.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Coburn has competed internationally as a member of Team England’s national lacrosse team, helping the squad to a sixth-place finish at the 2023 World Lacrosse Championships in San Diego.
A 2018 graduate of Merrimack College, Coburn was a four-year member of the Warriors’ men’s lacrosse program during one of the most successful stretches in program history. During his career, Merrimack earned four consecutive NCAA Division II Final Four appearances, made two NCAA Championship appearances, and captured both the NE10 Championship and the NCAA National Championship in 2018.
Individually, Coburn earned First Team NEILA All-New England honors as a senior and was a two-time NE10 All-Academic Team selection, while also receiving the NE10 Sports Excellence Award for men’s lacrosse. He was additionally recognized with the NCAA Division II Elite 90 Award in 2017, presented to the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing at the NCAA National Championship.
On the field, Coburn appeared in 63 career games, recording 68 caused turnovers, 157 ground balls, and 19 points on nine goals and 10 assists, establishing himself as a dependable and productive defensive presence.
As a member of the Saint Anselm College men’s lacrosse coaching staff, Coburn brings a championship mindset, defensive expertise, and a strong emphasis on academic and athletic excellence, continuing to develop student-athletes both on and off the field.
