John Herrick

John Herrick ’97 joins the Saint Anselm men’s ice hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach in September of 2022.

Herrick, a 1997 graduate of Saint Anselm, had been a volunteer goaltender coach with Concord Youth Hockey after spending three years as the Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations with the Abu Dhabi Scorpions of the Emirates Hockey League.

Herrick earned his Master’s Degree from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership in 2005.

Herrick has multiple other coaching roles leading up to his appointment as the assistant coach at Saint Anselm which includes with the Arizona Sundogs, the CHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes, DYHA U16 AA/AAA, Mesquite High School, Concord High School, and the Bertagna Goaltending Schools.

Following his graduation, Herrick spent just over two seasons playing ice hockey professionally with the Saginaw Lumberkings of the United Hockey League, the Fort Worth Fire of the Central Hockey League, and the Mowhawk Valley Prowlers of the United Hockey League.

Herrick concluded a near 20-year career within various law enforcement roles, including as a SWAT Operator, and continues to be the Lead Instructor as a security consultant for the Abu Dhabi Police force which includes teaching, developing, and implementing security and administration courses.

Herrick spent over five years in various roles with the Parkinson Network of Arizona (PNA). PNA is an all-volunteer board of individuals helping to raise money to support people with Parkinson’s and their families.

In his four seasons with the men’s ice hockey program as a student-athlete, Herrick posted a 28-24-6 record overall with a 4.17 goals-against average with a 0.854 save percentage. Herrick turned aside 1,497 shots on goal in 67 games played. His 28 wins rank fifth all-time and his six ties are third most in program history while his save total in good for ninth.
