Alex Gacek

Alex Gacek was hired as an Assistant Coach for the Saint Anselm men's ice hockey team on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

Gacek recently retired from a professional playing career that spanned the last two seasons. Most recently, Gacek played in 44 games across two seasons with the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL, scoring 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points (12-16=28). A top-five rookie goal scorer in the league, Gacek was also an invitee to the 2017 Boston Bruins Rookie Camp.

A four-year member of the men’s ice hockey team at Miami University (Ohio), Gacek played in 149 career games while scoring 16 goals and 30 assists for 46 points (16-30=46) from 2012-16. He won the team’s Unsung Hero award twice, the only student-athlete in team history to do so, and made two appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament.

A 2016 graduate with a degree in sport leadership and management, Gacek was a four-time Academic All-Conference pick and earned Dean’s List recognition as a student-athlete. He also served as a coach at the Miami (Ohio) Hockey School, running practices while instructing students of varying skill sets.
