Keith Dickson is in his 38th year as head coach of the Saint Anselm men's basketball program in 2023-24, having piloted the Hawks for 37 seasons. 

During his 39 years on the Hilltop Dickson has an overall record of 719-376(.657) and stands as the program's all-time record holder for coaching victories. Picking up his 700th victory on Feb. 21, 2023 against New Haven, Dickson entered the 2023-24 season ranked 13th among active NCAA coaches with 703 wins to his credit.

Dickson owns the Northeast-10 Conference record for career coaching wins outright, passing Brian Beaury, the legendary Saint Rose bench boss, with 644 career victories on Nov. 8, 2019 against Concordia (N.Y.) in the season-opener. 

Since his promotion to Head Coach prior to the 1986-87 season, Dickson has led the Hawks to nine Northeast-10 Conference Championships and 20 appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament. In 2012-13, he became the 16th Division II coach to reach the 500-win plateau when the Hawks defeated Pace, 101-54, at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium on Jan. 15.

The Hawks' head coach, who has been named the NE-10 Coach of the Year five times (1990, 1995, 1996, 2013, 2019), owns a reputation as one of the most successful Division II basketball coaches not only in the region, but on the national level, as well. Dickson was inducted into the college's Athletics Hall of Fame (2003) while earning the Walter A. Smith Coaches Award at the New Hampshire Parade of Champions Banquet in February of 2003.

Dickson took the reins of the program in the 1986-87 season and since that time has enjoyed extraordinary success, resulting in 15 Northeast-10 Tournament Championship game appearances and nine tournament championships, which are both league records. That string of tournament titles includes back-to-back conference banners on two occasions, including most recently in 2004-05 and 2005-06. The Hawks program has also enjoyed success in the regular season, winning back-to-back regular season titles on four occasions - Saint Anselm won the regular season championship for three consecutive season (2018, 2019, 2020).

Due to the Hawks' successful Northeast-10 seasons, the program has gone on to earn 22 bids to the NCAA Division II national tournament under Dickson and two East Region titles, making appearances in the "Elite Eight" in 2000 and 2019. Dickson's Hawks have never gone more than three years without an NCAA berth, and made 10 straight NCAA postseasons from 2013-2023. In addition, his teams have posted a winning mark in 30 of his 35 seasons and 19 times won 20 or more games.

In addition to numerous playoff successes and championships, Dickson has produced some other impressive personal numbers. The Hawks sport a 10-5 record in NE-10 championship games and a 59-30 record in Northeast-10 Conference championship tournament play.

Dickson's successes have earned him a number of accolades for excellence. He has been honored as the Northeast-10 Coach of the Year five times, earned the New England Basketball Coaches Association Division II Coach of the Year award and has also been named the National Association of Basketball Coaches Northeast District Coach of the Year.

Also highly regarded among his peers, Dickson is an active member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II Congress.

Coach Dickson is a native of Rockland, Mass., where he was a standout basketball player at his hometown high school. He moved on to play Division I college basketball at the University of New Hampshire from 1975-79. As an outstanding point guard, Dickson started four years for the Wildcats and graduated with 1,202 career points, at the time placing him as the school's third highest all-time scorer.

He stepped into the coaching ranks immediately after leaving UNH, joining Biscayne College in Florida for one year and entered the Northeast-10 Conference a year later as assistant coach at Bentley. He joined Saint Anselm as an assistant in 1985-86 and a year later was named as head coach.

In his first season, he led the Hawks to a 25-5 record and since that time, the Hawks have won 20 or more games 19 times.

Coach Dickson resides in Bedford with his wife, Patti. They have three children - Brett, Jeffrey, and Michelle. Brett was the starting point guard and a three-year captain at WPI before graduating in 2006. Jeffrey, who was the New Hampshire Class "L" Player of the Year at Manchester West High School, graduated from Saint Anselm in 2008. Michelle was a Northeast-10 All-Conference performer and a member of the Saint Anselm women's soccer team, graduating from Saint Anselm in 2010.

The Dickson's are the proud grandparents of Brady, Bennett, Carson and Keira.
