Chris Monroe joined the Saint Anselm College Baseball staff as an Assistant Coach in August of 2022. Monroe will serve as the Pitching Coach and as a Recruiting Coordinator for the Hawks.
Monroe comes to the Hilltop after serving as an Assistant coach most recently at the junior college level at Spoon River College in 2022, and was a Volunteer Assistant Coach in 2021 at Division 1 Western Illinois University.
Prior to Western Illinois, Monroe began his coaching career at Framingham State in the fall of 2015, as pitching coach through the 2017 season. The 2017 season was Framingham State's first time appearing in a conference championship series.
Monroe was an English major and a three-year member of the Framingham State University baseball roster. Monroe totaled 78.1 innings pitched including 40 in the 2015 season. He made 23 appearances, 12 of which were starts, and allowed 47 earned runs. In eight appearances in the 2015 season, Monroe surrendered a career-low 13 earned runs, leading to a 2.93 earned-run average.
Monroe’s coaching experience includes stops in collegiate summer baseball including the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League in 2016, the NECBL in 2018 with Winnipesauke, and most recently in with the Burlington Bees of the Prospect League. In 2016, Monroe saw 9 players go on to Professional Baseball including 2017 2nd Round Draft Pick Steele Walker (University of Oklahoma/Texas Rangers), Connor Heady (University of Kentucky/Los Angeles Dodgers), and Jared Oliva (University of Arizona/Pittsburgh Pirates.)
The Fitchburg, Mass. native has also been a guest instructor for the Baltimore Orioles organization and also currently as an instructor and coach for the New Hampshire Prospects in Manchester, New Hampshire.
