Assumption opened the scoring at 10:16 of the first period, as Lauryn Broecker found the back of the net off an assist from Allison Ryan to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 advantage going into the first intermission. Bayne made 25 stops in the opening frame for the Hawks.

The Greyhounds extended their lead to 2-0 at 13:15 of the second period when Ryan scored an unassisted goal.
