PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College softball team dropped both games against No. 17 Pace on Friday to close out their regular season. The Setters dominated game one in the pitching circle as they held the Hawks to just one hit in a 4-0 victory. Game two was a hard-fought battle that went into extra innings, but Pace came through with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to complete the sweep with a 3-2 win.

- Saint Anselm now awaits its playoff seeding and first-round opponent, with the opening round set for Tuesday, April 29th. Game one is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., with game two – only played if the lower seed wins game one – set to follow at 4:00 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):
- Pace struck first in the second inning as a single by Katerina Luna brought home Brianna Shea for the opening run.
- The Setters extended their lead in the third with RBI singles from Willa Poplawski, Jade Alvarado, and Sophie Valle, making it 4-0.
- The final four innings featured just two combined hits and Pace completed the shutout with a 4-0 win in game one.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GAME 1):
- Pace scored four runs on eight hits. They drew one walk and left six runners on base.
- Saint Anselm was shutout and had only one hit in the game. They drew one walk and left two base runners stranded.
- Senior Sophia DiPippo (Cranston, R.I.) went the distance for Saint Anselm in the pitching circle, allowing four earned runs and recording four strikeouts over six innings.
- Gisselle Garcia finished with a complete game shutout for Pace. She allowed only one hit, one walk, and struck out 16 batters on 100 pitches.
- Senior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.) recorded the Hawks' lone hit of the game with a double in the fourth inning. It was her eighth double of the season, which ties her for second-most on the team.
- This marked the 32nd meeting between Saint Anselm and Pace, with the Setters improving to 18-14 in the all-time series.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
- Pace once again got on the board first in the bottom of the second. Madison Picerno doubled home Shea to give the home team the early 1-0 lead.
- Saint Anselm responded in the third, sparked by a leadoff double by sophomore Jamie Calkins (Charlton, Mass.). She came around to score on a sacrifice fly by senior Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.), tying the score at 1-1.
- The Setters regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning with Riley Jenkins driving in Alexa Borino with a single to make it 2-1.
- The Hawks pulled even again in the fifth. Arsenault singled, stole second, and scored on a game-tying single by junior Rose Reitmeyer (Oxford, Conn.).
- From there, the game turned into a pitching duel, with neither team scoring through the next three innings.
- In the bottom of the ninth, Pace broke through. Kaylee Matsuda led off with a single and later crossed the plate on a walk-off single by Raelle Gorman, giving the Setters a 3-2 win and the doubleheader sweep.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GAME 2):
- Pace scored three runs and collected 14 hits, including a pair of doubles. They also walked three times, left 10 runners on base, and committed an error in the field.
- Saint Anselm scored two runs and totaled seven hits. They walked once, left seven runners on base, and committed an error defensively as well.
- Sophomore Sam Ryan (Tewksbury, Mass.) got the start for the Hawks. She lasted 4.1 innings and allowed just one earned run.
- Sophomore Kendra Lee (Endicott, N.Y.) pitched 4.1 innings in relief, giving up six hits and one earned run while striking out two.
- Arsenault had a strong game at the plate, recording two hits and scoring once. She now leads the team with 29 runs scored this season – eight more than her next closest teammate. Arsenault also stole a base, improving to a perfect 26-for-26 on the year.
- Sophomore Caitlyn Duquette (Bedford, N.H.) chipped in with two hits, including one of the team's two doubles.
- This marked the 33rd all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and Pace, with the Setters improving to 19-14 in the series.
