MANCHESTER, NH – Saint Anselm baseball picked up a big win over SNHU in Northeast-10 play. Freshman George Slauson (Plymouth, Mass.) led the way, recording all three of Saint Anselm's extra-base hits, including two homers. The pitching staff also played a crucial role, combining to allow just six hits and one run throughout the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Hawks struck first in the top of the second with an RBI single by sophomore Mavrick Bourdeau (Billerica, Mass.), scoring freshman Peter Fischer (Marshfield, Mass.) to take an early 1-0 lead.

Saint Anselm added to their lead in the third, as freshman George Slauson (Plymouth, Mass.) homered to lead off the inning.

The scoring wouldn't resume until the eighth inning, when Slauson led off with a double and scored on a single from sophomore Owen McCarron (Holliston, Mass.). Two more runs came home later in the frame on a single from junior Shea Howrigan (Enosburg Falls, Vt.), extending the lead to five runs.

Slauson capped off his standout performance by hitting his second homer in the top of the ninth, pushing the Hawks' lead to 6-0 heading into the final half-inning.

SNHU managed to get on the board with a grounder by Jancarlos Colon that scored Evan Kaplo, but it would be their only run as the Hawks secured a 6-1 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

This marked the 105th meeting between the two programs. With the victory, the Hawks improved to 35-70 all-time against the Penmen, snapping a nine-game losing streak in the series.

Senior Jared Reminder (Warwick, R.I.) started for Saint Anselm, pitching four scoreless innings and recording three strikeouts.

Sophomore Caden Smith (Lowell, Mass.) picked up the win, throwing two scoreless innings and allowing just two hits.

Junior Nolan Mederos (Nashua, N.H.) also contributed two scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit while striking out two.

George Slauson finished with two homers, a double, a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored in the win. It was the first multi-homer game by a Hawks player since March 2023. Slauson now leads the team with four homers on the season.

Freshman Jackson Powers (Woburn, Mass.) went three-for-three with three singles and also reached base via a hit-by-pitch.
