MELBOURNE, FL – Saint Anselm softball continued to impress on Day 2 of the Space Coast Games, earning a walk-off 3-2 victory over Minnesota Crookston before shutting down Post, holding them to just two hits in a dominant 10-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):

The Golden Eagles struck first in the top of the opening inning, as Madisen Yandle singled and later came around to score on a ground ball from Irelyn Spencer.

Minnesota Crookston extended their lead in the fourth inning with an RBI double from Haley Koch.

The Hawks got on the board in the fifth, capitalizing on a steal by senior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.), which drew an errant throw and allowed sophomore Madison Carmichael (Contoocook, N.H.) to score from third.

Still trailing by a run in the bottom of the seventh, Saint Anselm needed a late rally. Sophomore Jamie Calkins (Charlton, Mass.) worked a walk and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, while Arsenault also drew a walk and stole second, representing the winning run. Sophomore Brooke Tardugno (Methuen, Mass.) delivered the game-tying hit, and senior Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.) sealed the walk-off victory with a clutch ground ball up the middle.

This marked the fourth meeting between the two programs, with Saint Anselm remaining undefeated in the series at 4-0, having won both matchups this season.

Sophomore Kendra Lee (Endicott, N.Y.) earned the win in relief, pitching 3 ? scoreless innings while allowing just two hits.

The Hawks jumped ahead early with an RBI single from junior Rose Reitmeyer (Oxford, Conn.), scoring senior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.) from second.

The offense came alive again in the top of the fourth, as a single from senior Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.) drove in another run. A defensive miscue allowed another run to cross before senior Alyssa Wironen (Leominster, Mass.) added an RBI single. The Hawks capped off the inning with a bases-loaded walk from junior Lily Mason (Derry, N.H.), pushing their lead to 5-0.

In the fifth, an Arsenault double tacked on another run, followed by a sacrifice fly from sophomore Sam Ryan (Tewksbury, Mass.) in the sixth.

Freshman Katie Fox (Dracut, Mass.) led off the seventh with a triple and came around to score on an error. Wironen then found the outfield grass with a two-RBI single, securing double-digit runs for the Hawks.

Ryan, excelling in both the batter's box and the circle, closed out the dominant two-hit, complete-game shutout. She allowed just two hits, holding the opposition hitless over the final five frames.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GAME 2):

The all-time series is now tied at 3-3, with next Wednesday's matchup on March 19th serving as the tiebreaker. Notably, no team has won consecutive games in the series.

This victory marks the Hawks' fourth straight win, their longest streak of the young season.

Sam Ryan earned the win with a dominant performance, pitching all seven innings while allowing just two hits and one walk.

Katelyn Lips also went the distance for Post, finishing with eight strikeouts while allowing 15 hits and four earned runs over seven innings.

Freshman Katie Fox had a breakout game, coming just a home run shy of the cycle. She recorded the first three hits of her career and scored all three times she reached base.

Alyssa Wironen led the team with three RBIs on two hits, while Rose Reitmeyer paced the Hawks on the basepaths with two of the team's five stolen bases.
