MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Logan Montgomery (Weare, N.H.) of the Saint Anselm College men's track & field team has been named the Northeast-10 (NE10) Indoor Track Rookie of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday as part of its annual awards release. Montgomery, who won the gold medal in the 400m race at the NE10 Indoor Championship a few weeks ago, is the first student-athlete in program history to win a major award for the Hawks.

Montgomery began his collegiate career with a strong debut at the Plymouth State University Winter Classic, winning his lone event with a time of 1:25.11 in the 600m. His success continued at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University, where he claimed victory in the 400m with a time of 48.47.

At the NE10 Indoor Championship, Montgomery placed third in the 400m preliminaries to earn a spot in the final. In the championship race, he ran a collegiate-best 47.82, securing the gold medal by nearly half a second. In addition to his 400m victory, Montgomery finished fourth in the 200m, fifth in the 4x400m relay, and helped Saint Anselm achieve an overall fifth-place finish at the event, the best finish in team history.

Montgomery and the track & field team now shift their attention to the outdoor portion of the season, which begins on Saturday, March 29th, as they make the trip across the Merrimack River to compete in the Southern New Hampshire Spring Invite.
