HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm came out for redemption to open the first period of play on Saturday afternoon. In the first minute of play freshman Kismet Dogan (Vancouver, British Columbia) scored on a feed from senior Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.). Assumption would look to rally a response as they would earn a powerplay in the second minute of action but would be unable to get past the Hawks defensive line. Just before the halfway point of the period Saint Anselm would find their second score as freshman Lucy DeCoteau (Canton, N.Y.) grabbed an even strength score from teammates Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.) and Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.). Saint Anselm would be unable to escape the period as the Greyhounds would score in the 15th minute on a powerplay from Ava McGaffigan. The score going into the first break in play would be Saint Anselm 2, Assumption 1.
- Coming out of the break in play the Hawks would tab the first shot from Schneiderhan and continue to keep pressure on the Assumption back line. At the 1:54 mark the Hawks would grab a power-play on a holding call against the Greyhounds. At 3:24 Saint Anselm would extend their lead to 3-1 as senior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) would score from teammates Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.) and Brenna Young (Wilmington, Mass.). The score would stand for the remainder of the period as Assumption would fail to find momentum before the break.
- The third period would open in favor of the visitors early as after a power-play ended for Saint Anselm the Greyhounds would advance. Kiersten Browning would score at even strength for the Assumption squad forcing the game back to within one score at the 4:40 mark. At 5:50 trouble would strike again for Saint Anselm as they would concede another power-play on a boarding call. At 7:38 the tying goal would come from Teagan Vaughan on the advantage. In the 13th minute Turner called game, scoring at even strength from Schneiderhan to finalize the Hawks victory.
