HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Hawks would survive the disadvantage from strong goal keeping from junior Ava Hills (Pembroke, N.H.). In the ninth minute of play the Hawks would earn their own power-play on a penalty call on the Skyhawks. Saint Anselm would only be able to get off one good look on net from senior Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.). Just before the 12th minute of play the Skyhawks would capitalize off of a picked off pass by Gracie Sacca who would put on a nifty move against Hills to score and give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Stonehill held onto their one goal lead going into the first break in play.
- Stonehill came out of the break continuing to put pressure on the Hawks defensive line firing three shots in the first minute of play. Senior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) registered the Hawks first good look on net in the second period but was rejected by the Skyhawks keeper. Halfway through the period junior Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.) ripped back-to-back shots at the net but could not break through. Stonehill took a two-goal advantage in the 17th minute of play off of another score from Sacca. Saint Anselm was able to respond 14 seconds later as freshman Lucy DeCoteau (Canton, N.Y.) grabbed a quick stick goal off of a feed from Schneiderhan. The Hawks would go into the break down one score.
- Saint Anselm came out of the break hungry to tie the score and would complete evening the match in the ninth minute of play. Freshman Nicola Forth (Schwenksville, Pa.) tied the game solo at even strength. The Hawks and Skyhawks would end regulation knotted at 2 goals apiece.
- In overtime senior Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) grabbed the first shot on net for Saint Anselm without success. The Hawks would own the next handful of shots but would miss wide of the target. Hills would come up strong for Saint Anselm in the extra minutes keeping Stonehill scoreless.
