WINTHROP, Mass. – The New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) announced its major end-of-season award winners and All-League teams on Friday. Senior Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) represented the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team by earning a spot on the All-NEWHA Second Team for the third time in her career. Sophomore Alexis Poppleton (Gillette, Wyoming) grabbed an All-Sportswomanship Team nod for the Hawks as well.

Nominated and voted on by the league's coaches, student-athletes from the eight member institutions were honored for their accomplishments on the ice during the 2024-25 campaign. In addition to the two All-NEWHA squads, the league's All-Rookie Team and All-Sportswomanship Team were also revealed on Friday. Six first-year student-athletes (regardless of position) were voted to the All-Rookie Team, while the All-Sportswomanship Team nominees were furnished by each of the league's head coaches.

Turner and Poppleton helped the Hawks finish the 2024-25 regular season with a 10-11-7 record in NEWHA play, good for a fifth place finish in the league standings.

Now a three-time All-NEWHA Second Team selection, Turner has accumulated 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists this season. Her 12 assists and 23 points are both the most on the team and are tied for seventh in the league.

The Minnesota native reached two big career milestones this season. She notched her 100th career point with a pair of assists against Stonehill on November 22nd and recently scored her 50th career goal against Long Island (LIU) on February 22nd. Turner also recently broke the Saint Anselm women's ice hockey career games played record and sits at 135 games ahead of the NEWHA postseason. The forward currently ranks seventh in program history in both career goals (50) and career points (110), and is fifth in career assists (60). She also won the NEWHA Rookie of the Year award in 2021-22.

Poppleton returned to Saint Anselm at the start of the second semester. She has skated in 14 games this season and tallied two assists in the team's January 31st win against Post.

Friday's announcement is the seventh All-League roster released by the NEWHA, the newest NCAA Division I league for women's ice hockey, since its formation in 2017. The eight-team league was granted official NCAA Division I status in August 2019 and the postseason champion will earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Division Women's Ice Hockey Championship.

The Hawks open NEWHA postseason on Friday, Feb. 28 with game one of a best-of-three series against Stonehill. The opening puck drop is slated for 5:00 p.m. from Bridgewater, Mass.
