Zac Taylor (Victoria, Australia) matched his season-high with 18 points and equaled his career-best with four made threes for the Hawks in the loss.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm had an average night shooting with 25 made field goals out of 57 attempts (43.9 percent).
- Southern Connecticut State had a very efficient game shooting with 36 makes out of their 71 field goal attempts (50.7 percent), including 20 out of 34 (58.8 percent) in the second half.
- The Hawks had trouble shooting from behind the arc with only seven made threes out of 26 three-point attempts (26.9 percent).
- The Owls were a bit more efficient and shot 10 for 27 from long distance (37.0 percent).
- Saint Anselm shot 14 for 20 at the free throw line (70.0 percent). Southern Connecticut State made 11 of their 13 shots at the charity stripe (84.6 percent), including eight of nine in the second half (88.9 percent).
- Both teams moved the ball well as the Hawks recorded 18 assists on 25 baskets and the Owls totaled 24 assists on 36 baskets.
- Southern Connecticut State won the battle on the boards and out-rebounded Saint Anselm, 38-33. The Owls grabbed 10 offensive rebounds compared to six offensive rebounds pulled down by the Hawks.
- The Owls dominated inside and outscored the Hawks in the paint, 46-36. They also held a 9-2 advantage in second chance points, while the Hawks led in fastbreak points, 8-7.
- Saint Anselm committed 15 turnovers in the game, while Southern Connecticut State had just seven giveaways. Coincidentally, the Hawks maintained a 10-8 edge in points off turnovers.
- Defensively, Saint Anselm recorded two blocks and two steals, while Southern Connecticut State posted three blocks and 10 steals. Cherif Diarra led the defensive effort for the Owls with two blocks and three steals.
- The bench units for both teams had solid outings. The Hawks outscored the Owls in bench points, 34-24, with Taylor providing the visitors with 18 of those points.
- There were two ties and two lead changes in the game, all of which came early in the first half. Southern Connecticut State took the lead with 16:08 left in the first half and did not lose it for the remainder of the game. The Owls led by 12 at halftime and led by as many as 24 points.
- Three players scored in double figures for Saint Anselm, led by Taylor with 18 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3PT, 2-2 FT). Senior Sean McCarthy (Cork, Ireland) added 13 points (4-5 FG, 5-9 FT) and nine rebounds for the Hawks.
- Diarra led Southern Connecticut State with a game-high 21 points (7-9 FG, 1-1 3PT, 6-7 FT) in addition to six rebounds and four assists.
- Antonio Chandler and Albert Vargas both finished with a double-double for the Owls. Chandler scored 19 points (9-13 FG, 1-2 FT) and grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds, while Vargas had 16 points (7-19 FG, 2-8 3PT) and dished out a game-high 11 assists.
- This marked the 53rd all-time meeting between these two programs. Saint Anselm falls to 34-19 overall against Southern Connecticut State in the series that began in 1969.
