HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the first period of play the Eagles would earn the first offensive strike with three shots at senior goalie Annabella Lalande (Lachute, Quebec). The Hawks would quickly find their footing taking over the offensive control and moving into a scoring position. Teammates Alexis Poppleton (Gillette, Wyoming) and Ella Ridge (Chicago, Ill.)  would pass the puck to each other and find teammate Taylor Koeppl (Eden Prairie, Minn) for the first score of the evening, giving Saint Anselm a 1-0 advantage. Less than three minutes later the Hawks would strike again as Kismet Dogan (Vancouver, British Columbia) fed teammate Nicola Forth (Schwenksville, Pa.). for the second goal of the matchup. Saint Anselm would go on to score their third and final goal with three seconds remaining in the first period as junior Lilly Hartnell (Tampa, Fla.) scored at even strength.
  • The second period of action would be a scoreless affair between the two teams, but the Hawks would outshoot the Eagles 12-4. Saint Anselm would have their best look on offense in the 14th minute when they earned a power-play on a tripping penalty but would be unable to convert. The Eagles would end the period with their biggest offensive attack but would be rejected by Lalande.
  • The final 20-minutes of play would ignite a fire for the home team as they would come out of the break firing shots on the Hawks defensive line. In the 11th minute of action, the Eagles would find their sole score of the evening at even strength on a Julia Wysocki score. Saint Anselm looked to grab another score with a strong shot from Ridge but the evening would come to a close with a two goal win for the Hawks.
