How it Happened

Saint Anselm got on the board in the opening minutes of the game as sophomore Leila Härtel tipped in a shot by junior Laurentien van den Akker on a corner opportunity.

The Hawks put a flurry of shots on target four minutes later off another corner, but were unable to double their lead.

Both defenses tightened up in the second quarter as neither team was able to fire a shot, sending the game to the halftime break with Saint Anselm's 1-0 lead intact.

The Hawks increased their lead to two goals 10:20 into the second half as van den Akker scored her second goal of the year off of a corner, senior Ellie Brothers logging the assist.

The Penmen threatened late, but junior goalkeeper Mackenzie Wehrum came up big, making a save on a shot batted out of mid-air to keep the Hawks' shutout alive.
