Women’s Ice Hockey Skates Past Stonehill, 3-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Powered by two goals scored by senior captain Brooklyn Schneiderhan, the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team took down Stonehill College (0-3-0, 0-1-0 NEWHA) in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) clash at Sullivan Arena on Saturday afternoon.

  • Senior captain Brooklyn Schneiderhan scored twice (2-0-0) to increase her total to six points over four games.
  • Freshman Lauren Waldo scored her first collegiate goal.
  • Freshman Avery Wilson posted two assists while senior captain Cora Webber and sophomore Lucy DeCoteau each added one helper.
  • Freshman Kayla Lunney recorded a team-best four blocked shots.
  • Saint Anselm won 41 of 78 faceoffs with sophomore Eden Granley going 10-for-18 from the dot.
  • The Skyhawks went 0-for-3 on the powerplay.
  • The Hawks moved to 3-0-0 on home ice.
  • Saint Anselm now holds a 9-6-3 all-time record against Stonehill, dating back to the 2022-23 season. The Hawks are on a three-game winning streak against the Skyhawks.

How it Happened

Stonehill got on the board first as Lily Geist found the back of the net 5:48 into the opening frame.

Saint Anselm responded with a goal less than two minutes later as freshman Lauren Waldo fired in a near-side wrist shot for her first collegiate strike.

The Hawks took the lead for the first and final time as Schneiderhan scored the eventual game-winning goal, firing a wrister into the top right corner on a breakaway for a shorthanded goal to make it 2-1 before the first intermission.

The next goal would come with under a minute remaining in regulation as Schneiderhan added her second of the game with an empty-netter.

The Hawks will travel to Schenectady, N.Y. to take part in the Ice Breaker Tournament, hosted by Union College at the newly-constructed M&T Bank Center. The Hawks will play the host Garnet Chargers (3-1-2, 0-0-0 ECAC) on Friday, Oct. 17 at 3:37 p.m. and will face off against either Wisconsin or Vermont on Saturday, Oct. 18.
