HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Saint Anselm kicked off the new year taking on the Big Green of Dartmouth college, with Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.) notching the first shot attempt for the Hawks. Two minutes into action the Big Green would grab a quick score off of a faceoff from Shae Messner fed from teammate Bridget Pringle. Saint Anselm would look to reply with shots form Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) and Mackenzie Moss (Victoria, Minn.) but were unable to get past the Dartmouth goalie. With two minutes remaining in the first period the visitors would strike again at even strength as Maura Fiorenza would score off of a stolen puck to give the Big Green a 2-0 lead going into the break.
  • The second period would open up for Dartmouth as the Big Green would score a powerplay goal 58-seconds into the period as Cally Dixon would find the back of the cage. Less than a minute later the visitors would score once again as Ella Inglis would find herself 1-on-1 with Ava Hills (Pembroke, N.H.) and best the Hawks goalie. The bleeding would continue for Saint Anselm as in the fifth minute of action the Big Green would extend their lead to 5-0 on an even strength finish from Mia Buonarosa. The visiting team would keep the pressure on as Dixon would pick off a pass and best Hills 1-on-1 for the sixth score. Saint Anselm would look to find momentum earning a 5-on-4 advantage on an interference call at 15:42 in the period. The Hawks would be unable to capitalize on the advantage. The final look of the period would come from the Big Green but a big save from Hills would stump the bleeding at 6-0.
  • The final period of play would begin in the same manner as the previous with the Big Green adding to their goal tally in the third minute of action as Pringle would find the back of the net off of a feed from teammates Fuoco and Buonarosa. In the eighth minute of action the Hawks would finally break through as Taylor Koeppl (Eden Prarie, Minn.) would score her first collegiate goal off of a pick in transition. Dartmouth would have a response for the Hawks score as they would score in the 10th minute as Fuoco would find herself alone in transition and best Hills for the eighth goal. The visiting team would keep their foot on the gas as they would go on to score a ninth goal with four minutes remaining in the game.
