MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm Women's Ice Hockey battled to a hard 3-2 loss against NEWHA conference opponent Sacred Heart on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sacred Heart would have an impressive opening twenty as they would score all three of their goals in the opening period. The visiting Pioneers would score in the first six-minutes at even strength as Isabella Chaput would score off of a feed from teammates Savannah Popick and Olivia Laroche. The Hawks would keep the visiting team off the stat sheet until the 17th minute of action where Ella Holm grabbed a score at even strength, and then 57 seconds later the final (game-winning goal) would come from a stolen puck as Sydney Antonakis would best Annabella Lalande (Lachute, Quebec) 1-on-1.
- Saint Anselm would come out of the break firing on all cylinders as the team would tally eight shots in the opening four minutes with the best look coming from sophomore Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.) right at the three-minute mark. In the 16th minute of action, the Hawks would earn another solid opportunity as an interference call would be made against the Pioneers. During the power-play the Hawks would tally five shots with the best look coming from freshman Lucy DeCoteau (Canton, N.Y.) who's shot ripped off of the pipe. The period would come to an end scoreless for both teams.
- Senior Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) would come out of the break skating at a new speed, scoring just 39-seconds into the period off of a feed from DeCoteau. The score would light a new fire for Saint Anselm who would go on a shooting tear against the Sacred Heart keeper. In the fourteenth of action, the Hawks would make it a one score game as Jackson would score her second goal of the day in a power-play from teammates Tullo and Cora Webber (Johnson, R.I.). The Hawks would pull their goalie at the end of the third, but would be unable to force an overtime period.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jackson led the Hawks offensive strike scoring both goals for the Hawks, with teammates Webber, DeCoteau and Tullo each grabbing an assist.
- Sacred Heart out-shot Saint Anselm 38-31, but the Hawks won the face-off battle 24-19.
- The Hawks tallied nine blocked shots while the Pioneers grabbed 11.
- Lalande tabbed the loss allowing three goals and rejecting 35 shots.
