HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Prior to the start of the game today the Saint Anselm Women's Ice Hockey program honored a senior class of eight. Goalies Annabella Lalande (Lachute, Quebec) and Carina Mancini (Middlefield, Conn.), forwards Celesta Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.), Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.), Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.), and Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.), and the defenders Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.) and Heather McAvoy (Long Beach, N.Y.). The class of 2025 has helped the Hawks to a 54-46-8 record across three full seasons of competition. In New England Women's Hockey Alliance play, the group boasts a 53-21-8 record. The class of 2025 has helped the program reach the NEWHA Championship game on two occasions. This group of seniors has also tallied five NEWHA All-Academic Team nods, three All-Conference nods, a rookie of the year finalist and an ESPN Sportscenter Top 10 play.
- In the first period of action Franklin Pierce would own the first two shots on net, with Mancini rejecting the pair. The Hawks would look for a response and first goal of the afternoon from Turner, who owned the Hawks first look on net. Halfway through the first period Saint Anselm would earn an advantage on a hooking call. The Ravens would do a good job at keeping the Hawks scoreless through the advantage and keeping the puck out of their attacking zone. In the 13th minute of play Saint Anselm would find their first score as Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.) grabbed an unassisted even strength goal off of a pick off pass. The score would ignite offensive momentum for the Hawks as they would notch four quick shots at the Ravens defensive line without another score. Just before the period came to a close the visiting Ravens would grab their first score at even strength from Brynn Levinson, leaving the game tied at 1-1 at the end of the first 20.
- Franklin Pierce would make quick work coming out of the break, scoring just 22 seconds into the second period at even strength. The momentum would stay in favor of the Ravens as Turner would get called for a body checking penalty and set the visitors up with an advantage. Less than a minute into the power-play the Ravens would extend their lead to two goals as Bo Pierce Dean would grab the score at the 3-minute mark. Saint Anselm would refuse to bow down as they would quickly find a response from freshman Kismet Dogan (Vancouver, British Columbia) who would grab an unassisted score at the 4-minute mark bringing the game back to within one score. The Hawks would continue to use the momentum maintaining the majority of possession. Halfway through the period the game would become notched at 3 goals apiece as Dogan would grab her second score off of a feed from Nicola Forth (Schwenksville, Pa.). The Ravens would attempt to find a response, but the Saint Anselm squad kept their feet on the pedal. In the 15th minute of the period Jackson would take her turn scoring on a power-play fed from Forth and McAvoy giving the Hawks a 4-3 advantage which would hold until the end of the period.
- The third period of play would be an exclamation mark for the Saint Anselm squad as junior Ella Ridge (Chicago, Ill.) grabbed her first collegiate goal, and the game winning goal, halfway through the period. Franklin Pierce would make an effort at a comeback scoring a fourth goal from Caleigh Murphy, but one last score on an empty net from Brenna Young (Wilmington, Mass.) would seal the 6-4 victory for the Hawks.
