HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks would take their turn on offense first on Friday evening as senior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) would grab the first shot of the competition. The Ravens would have a two-minute response as they would earn an early power-play on a tripping call against the Hawks. Strong goalkeeping from Ava Hills (Pembroke, N.H.) would keep the home team scoreless. Halfway through the period senior Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) would look to get some momentum for the Saint Anselm offense but would find no spark. The period would come to an end with the Ravens earning another power-play again with no score.
- Saint Anselm would open the second period of play hungry for a score as they would earn an advantage just one minute into action on a tripping call against the Ravens. Junior Cora Webber (Johnston, R.I.) would have the best look on net but would be rejected. In the ninth minute of play the Ravens of Franklin Pierce would take the lead scoring at even strength on a goal from Brynn Levinson. This score would spark strong skating from the Hawks, but they would head into the final break behind 1-0.
- Redemption would begin the third period of play as the Hawks would score in the first five minutes of action as a stolen puck off of a rebound would set Donovan up for the unassisted even strength score. The momentum would continue in favor of the Hawks as they would shortly earn a power-play on a penalty on Levinson. Saint Anselm would be held scoreless through the power-play as Jill Hertl would remain strong in net for the Ravens. The Hawks would remain in offensive possession for the majority of the middle section of the period but would be unable to convert. The Ravens would take their turn on attack but would be kept at bay by Hills to force an overtime period.
- In the overtime period the Hawks would look to attack as much as possible but would fail to get a clean shot on net with the strength of the Ravens defense. The Ravens would also find it difficult to get a clean shot on net with the intense pressure from Donovan and senior Heather McAvoy (Long Island, N.Y.). In the shootout period the Ravens and Hawks would exchange two missed opportunities, before Donovan would tab the only score in the shootout.
