HOW IT HAPPENED:

At the halfway point of the period the Hawks would earn a power-play. 10-seconds into the advantage the Hawks would tally a score from Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.) fed from teammates Jackson and Justyce Ohlgren (Rogers, Minn.). The two teams would go on to exchange offensive possessions with Saint Michael's tabbed two last shots, both blocked by Natasha Lozowchuk (Canmore, Alberta).
  • The second period flipped roles as Saint Anselm would earn a power-play off of a Purple Knights penalty. The Hawks would be unable to capitalize on their advantage before a penalty would be called on Sydney Merritt (San Jose, Calif.) for tripping. Saint Michael's would also be unable to capitalize on their advantage, as strong goal tending for Hills would continue. In the seventh minute of action the Purple Knights would even the game with their own score at even strength from Alicia McDonald fed from teammates Alizee LeBlanc and Anna Jerylo. Saint Anselm would look for a response to take back their lead with the best opportunity coming from Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) but the home keeper Annika Lavendar would keep the Hawks scoreless through the end of the period.
  • Saint Anselm would start the third period with back-to-back shots from Ohlgren and Jackson. Saint Michael's would then take their turn on the attack with no avail. Until the 12th minute of action the two teams would be unable to get past each other's defensive lines. In the 12th minute of play the Purple Knights would score the game winning goal at even strength. Jodie Gratton would score off of a feed from teammates Alizee LeBlanc and Victoria FitzGibbon.
