HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm would tab the first shot of Friday evening as senior Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) would rip a shot, but would be turned away by the defensive line. The Hawks would maintain possession for the first four minutes of action before Saint Michael's would register their first real look on offense as Maddie Quinn would get a shot to Hawks keeper Ava Hills (Pembroke, N.H.) but Hills would turn her away. In the eighth minute of action the Hawks would break through and take the lead as senior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) tallied an even strength goal fed from teammate Makenzie Moss (Victoria, Minn.). The Purple Knights would look for a response from Julia Chedel but strong keeping from Hills kept the home team scoreless through the end of the first.
- The Hawks would come out of the break continuing to harass the Purple Knights defensive line with shots, with the best scoring opportunity coming from senior Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) at the two-minute mark. In the sixth minute the home team would find their matching goal as Alizee LeBlanc would score at even strength off of a missed shot from her teammate. Saint Anselm would look to find a game-winning goal for the next ten minutes of action. Donovan would strike again for the Hawks, scoring her second of the evening off of a through pass from Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.) at even strength. Saint Michael's would earn a power-play to end the period but would be unable to capitalize.
- The first seven minutes of action in the third period would be a battle between the two teams as they would exchange arrays of shots. In the seventh minute, Kismet Dogan (Vancouver, British Columbia) would take advantage of a power-play as Turner and Lucy DeCoteau (Canton, N.Y.) fed the freshman for the goal. The Purple Knights would make one last stand with 20 seconds left to play but would be unable to make up the two goal difference.
