HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior Ava Caputo (Waterbury, N.Y.) got the offense going early in the first inning for Saint Anselm, lacing the ball into left field for a single. The Hawks quickly loaded the bases after senior Hannah Ramer (Rehoboth, Mass.) walked and junior Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.) singled to center field to bring Reitmeyer to the plate.
  • With one out, Reitmeyer drilled the ball deep into the left-field corner for a stand-up, bases clearing double to put the Hawks ahead, 3-0.
  • Senior Haile Hicks (Jefferson, N.H.), who started in the circle for the Hawks, kept the Falcons bats quiet by striking out her third and fourth batters of the game to retire the side in the top of the second inning.
  • Saint Anselm cashed in another run in the bottom of the third to take a 4-0 lead. Senior Gracie O'Hara (Shrewsbury, Mass.) began the inning with a double before Reitmeyer drove her in with a double to left field for her fourth RBI of the afternoon.
  • In the top of the fourth, Bentley cut Saint Anselm's lead in half thanks to a two-RBI double by Jess Morrison that made it a 4-2 game.
  • The Hawks generated some offense in the bottom of the sixth as junior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.) and freshman Katie Tournas (Fairfield, Conn.) each tallied a single, but the pair was left on base following two strikeouts by Falcons pitcher Payton Doiron, who checked into the game to end the inning.
  • Saint Anselm secured the 4-2 win over Bentley after not allowing a baserunner in the top of the seventh that featured the seventh strikeout of the day for Hicks.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Saint Anselm scored four runs on nine hits and had one error, while Bentley recorded two runs off six hits and did not have any errors in the game.
  • The Hawks posted three extra-base hits, all coming from doubles, while the Falcons only produced one double.
  • Reitmeyer led the Hawks offense by driving in all four runs off two hits, both of which were doubles. O'Hara had a two-hit game featuring a double and a run scored, while Tournas also recorded a pair of hits on three at-bats for the Hawks.
  • Hicks earned her 18th win in the circle for Saint Anselm after pitching all seven innings allowing just two earned runs on six hits. She recorded seven strikeouts and did not walk any in the win after throwing 123 pitches and facing 28 batters.
