NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Saint Anselm College softball team picked up another Northeast-10 Conference sweep against the Owls from Southern Connecticut State College on Sunday to improve to a four-game win streak. The Hawks are now 5-5 in conference play while the Owls dropped to a 5-8 league record.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- After a quiet opening inning, the Hawks posted the first score of the day thanks to an RBI single by junior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.) to give Saint Anselm the early 1-0 edge. The Owls responded in the bottom of the second as Nadia Cestari scored a run off a double to tie the game at 1-1.
- In the top of the fourth, senior Hannah Ramer (Rehoboth, Mass.) doubled to left center with two outs on the scoreboard. After Ramer stole third base, sophomore Alyssa Wironen (Leominster, Mass.) singled through the left side scoring Ramer and regaining a 2-1 lead.
- The Hawks bats came alive in the fifth inning tacking on two more runs off three hits to go ahead 4-1. Sophomore Rose Reitmeyer (Oxford, Conn.) singled up the middle followed by a double from senior Gracie O'Hara (Shrewsbury, Mass.) to put two runners in scoring position. After junior Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.) was intentionally walked to load up the bases, freshman Katie Tournas (Fairfield, Conn.) picked up an RBI on a ground out to the first basemen. Ramer then scored O'Hara home on a single to extend the Hawks lead by three runs.
- The Owls added a late run in the bottom of the seventh thanks to an RBI single by Emily Lange, but Saint Anselm secured game-one by a final score of 4-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm recorded four runs off 11 hits along with one error while Southern Conn. St. posted two runs on five hits and zero errors.
- The Hawks batted two extra-base hits with a pair of doubles in the game while the Owls only hit one double. Both teams recorded one stolen base with Ramer earning the lone steal for Saint Anselm.
- At the plate, Ramer went 3-for-3 with one RBI, one run scored, and a double. Reitmeyer had a 2-for-4 performance at the plate scoring once.
- Tournas earned her second career RBI in the win while Wironen and Arsenault also recorded an RBI each in the contest.
- Hicks picked up the win for Saint Anselm, her 11th win on the rubber this season, after pitching the entire game. She allowed two earned runs on five hits striking out four batters and walking one.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- The Hawks jumped out once again to a quick 1-0 lead to start game two of the day with junior Ava Caputo (Waterford, N.Y.) scoring on a wild pitch. Southern Conn. St. answered in the bottom of the first with Rachel Miller tallying an RBI single to even the score back up at 1-1.
- In the top of the third, Saint Anselm reclaimed the lead by cashing in three runs featuring an RBI double apiece from Caputo and Reitmeyer to extend the Hawks advantage to 4-1. The Owls cut the visitor's lead in half as Miller tacked on another RBI single for Southern Conn. St. to make it 4-2 heading into the fourth inning.
- Caputo responded for Saint Anselm with an RBI single to score freshman Brooke Tardugno (Methuen, Mass.) to put the Hawks up 5-2. Saint Anselm gained momentum in the top of the sixth inning notching two hits and capitalizing on four errors by the Owls to take a comfortable 10-2 lead.
- After Caputo singled to load the bases up, freshman Jamie Calkins (Charlton, Mass.) reached first on an error scoring two runs to make it 7-5. Saint Anselm scored another three runs off Southern Conn. St. errors to pull away with an eight-run lead.
- The Hawks sealed their fourth straight conference victory after retiring the side in the bottom of the sixth, winning game two by a final score of 10-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm posted 10 runs on nine hits while Southern Conn. St. recorded two runs, six hits, and seven errors in the final game of the day.
- The Hawks tallied two doubles, the only extra-base hits in the game, and recorded four stolen bases.
- Caputo led the Hawks at the plate after going 4-for-4 with two RBI, three runs scored, a double, and a stolen base. Reitmeyer ended the game with three RBI after a 1-for-4 performance and Calkins also picked up two RBI for the Hawks.
- Junior Sophia DiPippo (Cranston, R.I.) earned her first win on the mound for Saint Anselm this season, her 12th career win as a Hawk, after pitching the entire game. She allowed just two runs off six hits and punched out two batters to secure the sweep.
- This marked the 35th meeting between these two programs with Saint Anselm now taking the lead in the all-time series at 18-17 thanks to today's conference doubleheader sweep.
