HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • D'Youville got out to an early lead after a goal by Madison Handley about three minutes into the first quarter.
  • Two minutes later, Saint Anselm registered back-to-back goals in a 17-second span to take a 2-1 lead. At the 10:41 mark, Sullivan set up senior Alison Ferullo (North Andover, Mass.) to put the Hawks on the board and with 10:24 on the clock, freshman Alyssa Hill (Brookline, N.H.) found senior Isabella Stuzynski (Bedford, Mass.) for another score.
  • The Saints were then awarded a player-up chance shortly after giving up the lead. Hawks goaltender Elizabeth Driscoll (Marblehead, Mass.) made a save during the player-down situation, but D'Youville's Emily Fischer scored to tie things up, 2-2.
  • Sullivan helped Saint Anselm regain the lead 23 seconds after the tying score, driving to the net and finishing off her first of the afternoon, but D'Youville once again tied the score after a goal midway through the first quarter by Sam Newlin.
  • Sullivan found the back of the net for the second time in the period a minute later to make it a 4-3 game, but with a little over a minute left in the first, Sydney Gordon tied it back up and the quarter ended, 4-4.
  • Just 30 seconds into the second, Ferullo made a backdoor cut to the net and received a pass from Hill out in front. Ferullo's quick shot found the back of the net and gave the Hawks a 5-4 lead.
  • Senior Maggie Fitzgerald (Holliston, Mass.) tallied her first goal of the game less than a minute later and then added a player-up goal with 9:56 left in the second to make it a 7-4 game.
  • Less than a minute after Fitzgerald's second goal, the Hawks defense forced a turnover and at the other end, junior Kendra Sabotka (Rutland, Vt.) capitalized on a free-position shot to extend Saint Anselm's lead to 8-4.
  • After a Saints timeout, Handley scored from a free-position spot to trim the deficit to three goals, but Sabotka caught a pass on the run from Sullivan and added her second goal to push the Hawks lead back up to four.
  • Saint Anselm's offense continued to put pressure on the D'Youville defense by attempting the next five shots. The Hawks broke through with Sullivan setting up Stuzynski for her second of the day to make it 10-5.
  • With 2:52 left in the half, the Hawks earned another player-up advantage. Sullivan got the ball, drove to the cage, and completed her hat trick with a left-handed shot, picking up her 200th career point on the play with the goal.
  • Mawn got in the scoring column with under two minutes left in the half after driving to her right and bouncing a shot into the back of the net and Saint Anselm led, 12-5, at halftime.
  • Saint Anselm won the draw control to start the second half and fired two consecutive shots on goal, but D'Yoville goaltender Brinn Stworzydlak was able to get in front of both attempts.
  • Midway through the third, Sullivan set up Mawn for her second goal of the afternoon. With 5:11 remaining in the third, Mawn got past a Saints defender after making a move from up top and bounced in her third goal of the game, securing her first collegiate hat trick to increase the Hawks lead to 14-5.
  • After earning a free-position opportunity with 1:27 left in the quarter, junior Abigail Christmas (Elmira, N.Y.) found Sullivan wrapping around the net. Sullivan grabbed the pass and fired in a shot for her fourth goal of the day to give Saint Anselm a double-digit advantage heading into the final quarter.
  • A D'Youville misconduct yellow card gave Saint Anselm another player-up chance and possession to begin the fourth. Just 10 seconds in, junior Samantha Rivet (Sudbury, Mass.) took it the distance and found the back of the cage to make it 16-5.
  • The Saints won the ensuing draw control and got possession in the offensive zone. Newlin found a cutting Handley, who scored her third of the afternoon to cut the deficit back down to 10.
  • Junior Jaycie Balboni (Billerica, Mass.) got past a few defenders with 7:29 left and ripped a shot into the left side of the net, extending the Hawks lead back up to 17-6.
  • Sophomore Charlotte DeLucia (Winchester, Mass.) tallied another Saint Anselm goal from a free-position spot with three minutes left and sophomore Julia Rowley (Dover, N.H.) scored with less than a minute remaining as the Hawks secured the win by a final score of 19-6.
