MANCHESTER, N.H. - The nationally-ranked No. 21 Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team was tripped up by No. 3 Adelphi University, 15-8, during Northeast-10 Conference action on Thursday afternoon. The Hawks fell to 1-1 in conference play with the loss, while the Panthers improved to a 2-0 league record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening minutes of play thanks to a goal apiece from seniors Jess Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) and Maggie Fitzgerald (Holliston, Mass.).
- Junior goalie Elizabeth Driscoll (Marblehead, Mass.) produced two saves as the first quarter neared conclusion, but the Panthers cut the Hawks' advantage in half with a score by Kerrin Heuser from a free-position attempt to make it 2-1.
- In the second quarter, Adelphi came out strong, notching two quick goals in the first two minutes to take a 3-2 lead. Shortly after the Panthers added another two scores, Fitzgerald disrupted the visitor's momentum with her second goal of the game.
- At the 5:06 mark, Sullivan tallied a score from the free-position spot to narrow Adelphi's lead to just one goal. The Panthers ended the quarter by scoring two late goals to take a 7-4 advantage heading into halftime.
- Sullivan kickstarted the scoring in the third quarter by securing her hat trick at the 12:32 mark off the assist from senior Isabella Stuzynski (Bedford, Mass.), bringing the score to 7-5.
- Adelphi responded with back-to-back goals from Kelly-Ann McGrath and Alexandra Leggio before Marielle Colalillo netted a score from a free-position chance to give the Panthers a five-goal advantage.
- At the 6:30 mark of the third, Sullivan found the back of the cage for her fourth goal of the afternoon with Stuzynski dishing out another assist for the Hawks.
- The Panthers offense continued to apply pressure as the visitors extended their lead to 13-6 featuring a pair of goals from Danielle Marino. With about a minute left in the quarter, Fitzgerald tallied a late goal to make it 13-7.
- In the final quarter of the game, Adelphi capitalized with the player-advantage with 11:37 to play after a score by Payson Hedges to take a seven-goal lead. Shortly after Driscoll produced a stop midway through the quarter, senior Alison Ferullo (North Andover, Mass.) buried a shot past Panther goalie Jillian McFadden to make it 14-8.
- Saint Anselm fired five shot attempts in the final minute of the contest, but Adelphi cemented their win by a final score of 15-8.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Adelphi outshot Saint Anselm by a 32-23 margin and held a 27-13 advantage in shots on goal in the game.
- The Hawks recorded 21 turnovers and 16 ground balls in comparison to the Panthers with 19 turnovers and 22 ground balls. Saint Anselm posted nine caused-turnovers while Adelphi registered six caused-turnovers.
- The Panthers had success on draw controls, winning 16-of-23 in the game. Ferullo led the Hawks with three draw controls along with two from junior Samantha Rivet (Sudbury, Mass.).
- Driscoll picked up the loss after making 12 saves and allowing 15 goals in the cage for Saint Anselm. McFadden earned her fifth win after producing five saves and allowing eight goals.
- Sullivan scored four goals for four points along with three ground balls and a caused turnover. Fitzgerald ended the game with a hat trick for three points picking up one ground ball and one draw control. Stuzynski dished out a career-high five assists for five points.
- Marino led the Panthers with five goals for five points while Heuser notched a hat trick and won seven draw controls for Adelphi.
- This marked the 20th meeting in the all-time series between these two programs with Adelphi now holding a 19-1 record following today's win.
