HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior Jess Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) started the game with a quick goal in the opening minute of the first quarter to put Saint Anselm up, 1-0. Embry-Riddle's Alexa Zeruto fired a shot on target that junior Elizabeth Driscoll (Marblehead, Mass.) stopped for her first save of the day.
- At the 9:12 mark, Ferullo doubled the Hawks' advantage with a score off the assist from junior Samantha Rivet (Sudbury, Mass.). The goal was the 100th of Ferullo's career.
- With under eight minutes left in the quarter, Callison Foreman cut Saint Anselm's lead in half with a goal to make it 2-1. Shortly after, Embry-Riddle tied the game up at 2-2 thanks to a score by Eliana Enners.
- Freshman Lucy Mawn (Harwich, Mass.) gave the Hawks back the lead with her third goal of the season at the 3:47 mark.
- In the final two minutes of the first quarter, Samantha Reich found the back of the net to once again for the Eagles even the score. With about 40 seconds to go in the quarter, senior Maggie Fitzgerald (Holliston, Mass.) scored a free-position goal, her 12th of the year, to give Saint Anselm a one-goal advantage heading into the second quarter.
- The Eagles came out strong to start the second, ripping the first four shots and forcing two saves from Driscoll. At the 7:34 mark, Kenley Zeruto tallied a score followed by a free-position goal from Caitlin Gavin that gave Embry-Riddle their first lead of the game, 5-4.
- After Ava Rogala notched the sixth goal for the Eagles to put the hosts up by two goals, Saint Anselm senior Isabella Stuzynski (Bedford, Mass.) fired a shot past Embry-Riddle goalie Ella-Rae Cox. With 1:33 left to play in the first half, Fitzgerald scored her second goal of the afternoon to tie the game at 6-6 heading into halftime.
- Embry-Riddle took control early in the third quarter posting two goals in the opening five minutes to go up 8-6. After a quiet few minutes of play, the Eagles produced five scores in the final five minutes of the quarter to take a seven-goal lead.
- The Eagles tallied another three scores in the fourth quarter to seal their 16-6 victory over Saint Anselm.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Embry-Riddle produced 34 total shots while Saint Anselm posted 15 shots in the contest.
- The Eagles recorded 22 turnovers and picked up 27 ground balls in comparison to the Hawks with 29 turnovers and 19 ground balls.
- Saint Anselm held a slight 13-12 advantage in draw controls in the game and both teams were 1-for-3 on free-position shots.
- Driscoll picked up the loss after recording 12 saves in net for the Hawks and allowing 16 goals.
- Fitzgerald led the team with two scores along with three draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. Ferullo, Stuzynski, Mawn, and Sullivan each tallied one goal apiece in the loss for Saint Anselm.
- Ferullo netted her 15th score of the season to earn her 100th career goal as a Hawk along with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- This marked the third all-time meeting between these programs. Saint Anselm falls to 1-2 overall against Embry-Riddle.
