HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Prior to the game, Arbuckle and seniors Matt Becker (Fairfield, Conn.), Tommy Fraser (Concord, N.H.), and Josh Menard (Higganum, Conn.) were all recognized in a special pregame Senior Night ceremony.
- Helping Saint Anselm get out to a strong start was junior Sean McCarthy (Cork, Ireland), who scored five of the first seven points that allowed the Hawks to take an early 7-2 lead. New Haven quickly answered with two threes by Tyler Saint-Furcy to take their first lead of the night, 10-9.
- After five consecutive points by sophomore Josh Morissette (Exeter, N.H.) the Hawks turned back to McCarthy on the offensive end. The junior continued to get downhill, slashing his way into the paint for two more driving layups.
- With 9:03 left in the first half, Arbuckle knocked down Saint Anselm's first triple of the game to extend his team's lead to 23-14. Another midrange pull-up from Morissette a minute later helped the Hawks maintain their nine-point advantage.
- Morissette cashed in from long distance with 2:31 remaining in the first half which made it 36-22, Saint Anselm. McCarthy got one more layup to go before halftime and the Hawks led by 13 points at the break.
- Both teams traded baskets to start the second half, with New Haven's Davontrey Thomas scoring the first 10 points out of the break for the Chargers. Arbuckle countered that by scoring 11 of Saint Anselm's first 13 points of the second half. His triple at the 13:17 mark allowed the Hawks to stay ahead by double digits.
- After Arbuckle knocked down a pair at the line, Morissette struck again from three-point range to make it 54-42, Saint Anselm, with 11:50 to go.
- A three from New Haven's Jah'likai King a few minutes later helped the Chargers cut the deficit to just six points, but the tandem of Arbuckle and Morissette continued to thrive on the offensive end as both connected on midrange jumpers to make it a 12-point game once again.
- With under five minutes left in the game, Morissette rattled off five consecutive points for the Hawks, which included a step back three, and the home team led, 70-55. Arbuckle made one final triple before being subbed off with a minute to play and Saint Anselm soared to a 74-62 home win.
