HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • For the second game in a row, Saint Anselm opened the game with baskets on their first three offensive trips. Hoyt scored twice and fifth-year Liv Robles (Wallingford, Conn.) added two points of her own, all from within the paint, to give the Hawks the early 6-2 edge.
  • Sophomore Tatum Forbes (Pawtucket, R.I.) got in on the scoring action with a pair of midrange jumpers, including one in transition, as Saint Anselm went ahead, 13-7. There were just three combined points across the final 4:18 of the first quarter as the Hawks held a 14-9 advantage after one.
  • A layup from Hoyt and a three from Forbes at the start of the second allowed Saint Anselm to extend their lead to eight points, but the Hawks then went three minutes without scoring that allowed Adelphi to go on a 10-0 scoring run and take a 21-19 lead.
  • Junior Katie Lemanski (Haymarket, Va.) ended the drought with two points to tie the score. Adelphi eventually led, 25-22, at halftime after just one combined field goal was scored in the final four minutes of the half.
  • In the third quarter, the tandem of Forbes and Hoyt combined for Saint Anselm's first eight points. A midrange jumper with a minute left in the third from sophomore Harmony Marquez (Rutherford, N.J.) made it just a two-point deficit for the Hawks going into the fourth.
  • Robles opened the final quarter with a steal on the defensive end and a two-pointer in the paint to tie the score, 36-36. After the Panthers retook the lead, senior Alexa Quirolo (New Rochelle, N.Y.) scored four straight points for the Hawks to tie the score once again.
  • Consecutive buckets in the paint from Hoyt gave the Hawks the lead back, 44-42, with 2:43 remaining. Adelphi answered with field goals on back-to-back possessions, capped off with two points from Rolanda Robinson, which gave the Panthers a 46-44 lead with 50 seconds to play.
  • Saint Anselm missed their final three attempts, all from long distance, and Adelphi knocked down four free throws to seal the win.
