HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In their second and final matchup of the week the Hawks and Sharks opened play in a battle. Long Island would take the offensive stand first, firing four quick shots at senior goalie Annabella Lalande (Lachute, Quebec) who would turn them all away. The first shot for Saint Anselm would come from Justyce Ohlgren (Rogers, Minn.) but the Sharks defensive line would keep the Hawks scoreless. In the seventh minute of action the home team would find themselves with an advantage, 1-0, after scoring in a power-play situation. 10 minutes later Saint Anselm would find their response as a rebound from Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.) would feed teammate Lucy DeCoteau (Canton, N.Y.) for the score evening goal to end the period.
  • The two teams would open the second period of play in another battle as Long Island would rally a pair of shots first, one being blocked by the Hawks defensive line and the other turned away by Lalande. A pair of shots would come in response from Saint Anselm as Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.)  and Mackenzie Moss (Victoria, Minn.) each tallied one. In the 16th minute of action, the Sharks would regain their lead off of an even strength rip and score from Jeannie Wallner. Less than a minute of action later, a line shift would allow another score from the home team as Drew Dyczkowski added her name to the stats sheet.
  • The Hawks would look to make a comeback for the second day in a row against the Sharks, quickening the pace of their play to match the Sharks. In the 12th minute of action, the Hawks pressure would push through as DeCoteau would tab her second score of the afternoon at even strength. A wild SIX seconds later teammate Jackson would score the tying goal on a slick try, megging the Shark's keeper and forcing another overtime affair.
  • The home team would make quick work of the overtime segment, scoring 47 seconds into play on a 2 on 1 advantage.
