MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm Women's Ice Hockey ended regulation in a tie with NEWHA opponent Stonehill on Saturday afternoon, 1-1, taking the win in the shootout.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first period of action the Hawks would see opening shots from Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) and Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.), both being rejected by the Skyhawks keeper. Stonehill opened their attack with shots on target as well, but Ava Hills (Pembroke, N.H.) would keep the team scoreless through nine minutes. In the ninth minute the visitors would break through on a power play. Bailey Feeney would continue her successful weekend scoring the goal for the Skyhawks off of a feed from teammates Kathryn Karo and Sydney Russell. After falling down by one the Hawks would assault the visiting defensive line with shots on target and off, until the final buzzer would sound.
- Saint Anselm would continue their rapid-fire offense into the second period tallying eight opening shots in the first five minutes of play. In the sixth minute senior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) would score the game tying goal off of a feed from teammates Sydney Merritt (San Jose, Calif.) and Taylor Koeppl (Eden Prairie, Minn.). The Hawks would continue to fire shots off the momentum but were unable to find success for the remainder of the period. The final period of regulation would consist of 14 shots for the home team and 17 shots from the visitors.
- In the shootout period of play Turner would finalize the Hawks victory on the second attempt.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Donovan led the scoring attack for the Hawks in regulation, tabbing the sole goal of the afternoon.
- Saint Anselm out-shot Stonehill 60-33 and won the faceoff battle 52-23.
- The Hawks tallied 12 blocked shots while the Skyhawks tallied 14 blocked shots.
- Ava Hills (Pembroke, N.H.) tabbed the win allowing one goal and tabbing 32 saves in net.
