HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Stonehill would begin action on Friday night taking majority of possession to open the first period, scoring the first goal in the ninth minute of action from Maddison Achtyl on a power-play situation. Saint Anselm would begin to find their footing in the 10th minute as Celesta Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) would tally a shot on goal, leading to a momentum shift. An interference penalty on the Skyhawks would allow for the Hawks to have a power-play advantage in the 14th minute of action. Brooklyn Scheiderhan (Helena, Mont.) would take the advantage home, scoring off of a feed from Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) to even the game going into the break.
  • Scoring would continue into the second period of play for the Saint Anselm squad as Paolucci would grab an even strength goal from Turner in the 11th minute of play. The Hawks would stay hungry on offensive hunting to extend their lead past one goal as Schneiderhan and Turner would have two good looks on net but would be turned away by Caron.
  • In the final 20 minutes of play the Hawks would take an early advantage on a tripping penalty against the home team. Schneiderhan would take advantage again, earning her second power play score of the evening off of a feed from Lucy DeCoteau (Canton, N.Y.) and Ella Ridge (Chicago, Ill.). Stonehill would look to make a comeback, bringing the game within one score just before the halfway point of the period as Bailey Feeney scored an even strength goal. Enter Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.), the senior would take over scoring efforts for the Hawks scoring the next two goals in the remaining eight minutes. The first shot and score would be at even strength and sent in from teammate Sydney Merritt (San Jose, Calif.), the second goal would come within another power play as the senior would grab a rebound off of a teammate's shot, and score unassisted.
