HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The home team, East Stroudsburg began the game on the offensive end of the pitch first, notching a shot in the first minute of action from Allyson Forman but was blocked by the Hawks defensive line. The next line of action would not come until the 12th minute as senior Amanda Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass.) would step in a take a penalty corner for the Hawks. A set play feeding junior Millie Forster (Cheshire, England) would allow for fifth year senior Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) to rip a shot at a shifting keeper and give the Hawks the 1-0 advantage at the end of the period. In the second quarter of action there was little to discuss until the Warriors earned a penalty corner 27th minute. The corner would set up for a Jady van Gils shot but again the Hawks defensive line would prevent an evening score going into halftime.
  • The second half opened in favor of the home team as the Warriors earned the opening penalty corner of the half allowing for back-to-back shots from the team. Senior goaltender Sidney Falterer (Fairfield, Conn.) would go on a spree of incredible saves from her feet and laying on her side to keep the Warriors scoreless through two more penalty corners. The quarter would come to a close with a green card on East Stroudsburg which would continue into the final quarter. To open the fourth quarter the Hawks would even the playing field, as Stephanie Sutton-Brown
(Ashby, Mass.) would notch a green card of her own six seconds into action. In the 47th minute Saint Anselm would find themselves with another scoring opportunity as the team would earn another penalty corner. Junior Maggie Burchill (Braintree, Mass.) would step in to take the set play for the Hawks, feeding teammate Laurentien van den Akker (Geldrop, The Netherlands) who would rip a shot past the Warriors keeper giving the Hawks a 2-0 advantage. 50-seconds later Sutton-Brown would find her redemption, scoring a beautiful back post shot from Meghan Smith (Uxbridge, Mass.) to silence East Stroudsburg.
