HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the first period Saint Anselm came out firing, tallying five shots in the first minute of play. The best look coming from Brenna Young (Wilmington, Mass.) who was rejected by Jadyn Weiser. Assumption would respond with their own slew of shots as Ava Hills (Pembroke, N.H.) rejected the Greyhounds. In the 11th minute of action in the first period the Hawks would earn an advantage on Assumption having too many players on the ice. During the power-play Saint Anselm would grab three shots on goal from Cora Webber (Johnston, R.I.), Justyce Ohlgren (Rogers, Minn.) and Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.). Saint Anselm would continue to maintain momentum, earning another power-play to end the period, but were unable to capitalize.
  • Assumption would have the advantage to open the second period, earning a power-play on a Schneiderhan tripping penalty. A win in a face-off from Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) would help keep the Greyhounds scoreless through the man up advantage. Then the Hawks would earn their advantage on a holding call against the home team. During the advantage Young would have the best look on net, but an impressive save from Weiser would deny the score. In the 17th minute the Greyhounds broke through, scoring an even strength goal from Caroline Lilley, to go into the break up 1-0.
  • The third period would start poorly for Saint Anselm, as they opened play with a penalty for a line up violation. This advantage would allow for the Greyhound to score 17-seconds into the period. Heather Ajakie would tab the game-winning goal for the home team. The bleeding would continue for the Hawks as two minutes later, a broken up pass would lead to another even strength goal for the Greyhounds, giving them a 3-0 advantage. The last score of the day would come from the Hawks as freshman Ohlgren would score her first collegiate goal off of a feed from teammates Webber and Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.).
