Football Downed in Season Finale at Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College football team suffered a 41-14 loss to Bentley in their season finale on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Bentley outgained Saint Anselm in total yards of offense, 416-226.
  • The Falcons picked up 23 first downs in the game, while the Hawks moved the chains 21 times.
  • Bentley nearly doubled up their opponents on the ground with 101 rushing yards (3.7 yards per attempt) compared to just 53 rushing yards (1.6 yards per rush) for Saint Anselm.
  • The Falcons also held an advantage through the air with 315 passing yards compared to 173 passing yards for the Hawks. The Falcons averaged 13.7 yards per reception while the Hawks averaged 8.2 yards per attempt.
  • Both teams committed one turnover apiece. Saint Anselm threw one interception while Bentley lost a fumble.
  • The Hawks punted six times for an average of 32.7 yards while the Falcons punted three times for an average of 37.0 yards.

  • Freshman running back Jake Croce (Point Pleasant, N.J.) led Saint Anselm with seven carries for 35 rushing yards. He also had six catches for 43 receiving yards and caught a touchdown.
  • Vinnie Holmes led Bentley with 17 carries for 56 rushing yards.
  • Senior Andrew Edwards (Cibolo, Texas) led the Hawks in the receiving game with five catches for 53 receiving yards. Nine different players for the Hawks caught at least one pass.
  • The Falcons were led by Rashon Bradford who hauled in nine passes for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Jonathan Oriakhi added five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.
  • Defensively, seniors Kaleb Lewis (Austin, Texas) and Austin Spille (Austin, Texas) led the Hawks with eight total tackles apiece. Spille also registered 0.5 sacks, while Lewis was credited with a pass breakup.
  • Henry Schouten led the Falcons with nine total tackles and a tackle for a loss of nine yards. Herve Tshibamba recorded two sacks and Isaiah Gomes grabbed an interception for Bentley. Seven players registered 0.5 sacks or better for the Falcons.
  • This game marked the 25th all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and Bentley. The Hawks are now 2-23 all-time against the Falcons.
