Women's Soccer Falls to Franklin Pierce in Northeast-10 Semifinals

RINDGE, N.H. – The No. 6 seed Saint Anselm College women's soccer team was defeated by the No. 2 seed and nationally ranked No. 24 Franklin Pierce by a final score of 2-0 in the Northeast-10 Championship Semifinals on Thursday evening.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Total shot attempts were even at 13 apiece. Franklin Pierce held a slight 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Ravens had six corner kicks in the match, while the Hawks had three.
  • Both teams were whistled for five fouls. There were no cards issued to either side.
  • Franklin Pierce scored a goal in each half courtesy of Claudia Peirce and Jenni Huttunen.
  • For Saint Anselm, fifth-year senior Tara McCleary (Quincy, Mass.) and seniors Riley DiGilio (Danvers, Mass.) and Josie Pecor led the team with three shot attempts each.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Samantha Swidorski (Woobury, Minn.) made five saves in goal for the Hawks. Emilie Fox made five saves in goal for the Ravens to earn the shutout.
  • This marked the 45th all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and Franklin Pierce. The Hawks fall to 7-35-3 against the Ravens in the series that began in 1988.
