HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first quarter Saint Anselm would find themselves with the first offensive opportunity, earning a penalty corner six-minutes into the game. Senior Amanda Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass.) would step in to take the corner for the Hawks, looking to feed classmate Chloe Kapsambelis (Merrimack, N.H.) but with no success. The home Greyhounds would then take their turn in the offensive end earning their first penalty corner at the 7th minute mark. Strong goal keeping from senior Sidney Falterer (Fairfield, Conn.) would keep the Greyhound scoreless through the end of the first.
- The Hawks would open the second quarter with a scoring opportunity from fifth year senior Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) but would be turned away by Assumption's Paige Gillette. After a battle in the midfield the Greyhounds would advance into the offensive zone pulling Falterer out of her cage. After drawing out the keeper the home team was able to capitalize as Elle Murray was able to score off of a feed from Daisy Stone. Saint Anselm would tab two more shots on goal in the period of play but would be unable to respond going into halftime.
- The third quarter of play would consist of a battle of poking the ball from each other's possession with each team notching one shot. For Saint Anselm junior Millie Forster (Cheshire, England) would tally the shot on goal, but an aggressive kick out would keep the Hawks scoreless. For the Greyhounds Stone would look to make the game a two-goal game, but a dramatic save from Falterer would reject the forward.
- In the fourth period of action the teams would not notch a single shot until the 52nd minute where Assumption would earn their second penalty corner. From the corner the Greyhound would find themselves with an offensive opportunity from a Riley Tepper shot but would be turned away by Falterer. As the save rebounded off Falterer Mia Salah stepped in and ripped a shot in the upper corner of the cage to give the home team the 2-0 advantage. Saint Anselm would look for a response earning a penalty corner in the 53rd minute and tallying a shot from senior Abby Breznyak (Oakland, Maine.) but would be unable to score. As time continued to run out the Hawks would give up a penalty stroke in the 58th minute, as Elle Murray ripped the back of the cage giving the Greyhounds a 3-0 lead.
