HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Franklin Pierce came ready to go in the first period ripping a shot past the Hawks defensive line in the first minute of action. The Ravens scored at even strength as Anna Caumo score at the 46-second mark from a feed from teammates Lilah Bauer and Maggie Korneta. Saint Anselm would look to respond as Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.) would grab the first shot on net, but would be turned away by Jill Hertl. The Ravens would continue to keep their skates on the gas throughout the first half of the period, scoring their second goal in the eighth minute of action at even strength. Mikayla Kelley would collect her own missed shot and find the back of the net. The Hawks would find some momentum in the 12th minute of action notching three shots, two from Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) and one from senior Captain Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.). The teams would exchange shots and face off wins before Heather McAvoy (Long Beach, N.Y.) would end the period with two shots of her own.
- In the second period Saint Anselm would come out of the locker room ready for action, scoring just before the first third of the period. Jackson would set up the offensive strike ripping a shot that was turned away by Hertl, but would allow teammate Brenna Young (Wilmington, Mass.) to find the Hawks first score of the night at 6 minutes 38 seconds. Just before the 11th minute of action in the period the Hawks would earn a power-play on a hooking call against the Ravens. The Ravens would respond faster, scoring a short-handed goal from Kelley fed from teammate Brynn Levinson, giving them a 3-1 advantage. This goal would create a turn in action for Saint Anselm as they would tab eight shots in the next seven minutes. Senior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) would find an open look on net, but a quick movement from the keeper would deflect the shot. The deflection fell back into Donovan's stick allowing the Hawks to bring the game back to within one score before the period would come to a close.
- The final period of play would be an intense one for the two teams. Both sides of competition would get physical with each-other and push the limits of play. As the clock struck 7-minutes in the period the Ravens would look to deflate the Hawks energy, scoring their fourth goal form Bo Pierce Dean. Just under two minutes later the Hawks responded with Donovan putting the goalie in a tough position again, forcing her to make a deflection save off a transition pass from Turner. The deflection would set Jackson up for success, as the Hawks once again brought the game within one score. The remainder of the period would be controlled by the Hawks, but they would be unsuccessful in finding another score.
