HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In unique fashion, the Hawks struck as soon as they could on Saturday, scoring the first and only score in the first 14-seconds of action. Senior Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) scored off of a beautiful feed from Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) allowing the early tide to go in Saint Anselm's favor. The two teams continued to exchange shots at the opposing goalies, but in the 13th minute of action the Colonials would even the playing field. Morgan Giannone scored at even strength bringing the score to 1-1. The final third of the period would be dominated by Robert Morris, as Saint Anselm would find a sole and final shot from Turner, missing just wide.
  • The Colonials would look to send a message early in the second period, stealing the puck off the Hawks faceoff win, and scoring their second goal 16-seconds in from Janelle Evans. The Hawks would look for a response, earning a power-play one minute later, and tabbing two shots on goal from Jackson and Brenna Young (Wilmington, Mass.). In the eighth minute of action Robert Morris found themselves in another scoring opportunity and would complete the play taking a 3-1 lead. Saint Anselm earned another power-play but were unable to tab any shots this segment. The period would end with the Colonials maintaining possession and firing six more shots towards the Hawks.
  • The Robert Morris would take command of the final period of play scoring in the first minute extending their lead to 4-1 over Saint Anselm. Continuing to maintain possession the Colonials would go on to quickly score again on another Giannone score at even strength. Over the next two minutes of action the Colonials would win back-to-back face-offs and take a pair of shots, one missing wide, and the second coming off the pipe. Using the rebound to their advantage Evans would feed teammate Veronica Bac, who found Alaina Giampietro to silence the crowd putting the visitors up 6-1. Before the end of the game, Robert Morris would tab one last score with 11-seconds remaining on a power-play.
