HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Saint Anselm started action with two quick shots, one from senior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Justyce Ohlgren (Rogers, Minn.), both turned away by Maggie Hatch. Then the Colonials opened fire, notching three back-to-back shots before a shot from Mya Neugent would find the back up the net giving them a 1-0 3-minutes into the match-up. For the next nine minutes of action the teams would exchanges ends firing shots at each other's keepers. In the 12th minute the Colonials struck again as Calli Arnold scored off of a feed from Morgan Giannone and Neugent taking the 2-0 lead that would stand until the end of the period.
  • The second period would begin the same for the Hawks as Lucy DeCoteau (Canton, N.Y.), Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.), and Nicola Forth (Schwenksville, PA) would all register early shots. Robert Morris would look to respond but a power-play in favor of the Hawks in the third minute would allow for a spew of shots, six in total, from the home team but were unable to capitalize. Three minutes after the power-play, at even strength, Robert Morris extended their lead to 3-0 from a shot and score from Jersey Phillips. Tullo and Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.) took two shots, blocked by the defensive line before they would reach the net. After the 10:30 media timeout, Saint Anselm exploded with five more shots against the Colonials. The period would come to end with a final shot from Brenna Young (Wilmington, Mass.).
  • DeCoteau ignited the third period for Saint Anselm with back-to-back shots on goal, before a penalty for holding on Ressler turned the tide momentarily. Coming out of the power-play the Hawks took an offensive tilt with shots form Cora Webber (Johnson, R.I.) and Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) coming quickly before the two fed DeCoteau for her first collegiate goal bringing the game within two goals. Two minutes later the Colonials would deflate the comeback spark scoring their fourth goal from Arnold. Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.) took her turn on the offensive strike ripping three shots in a row at the keeper. In the 13th minute of play the Colonials extended their successful day scoring a fifth goal from Giannone. The last score of the day would also come from the visitors as they took a 6-1 final advantage off of a score from Alaina Giampietro.
