HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm started the game on Wednesday evening on the offensive strike taking four shots in the first quarter. American Int'l had two shots of their own with Brooke Scafran making through the defensive line, but would be turned away by senior goalie Sidney Falterer (Fairfield, Conn.). In the second period of action Millie Forster (Chesire, England) opened play with a shot on goal 51-seconds into play. The Hawks would continue to maintain pressure as Amanda Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass.) and Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) would tally shots on goal as well. In the final minute of action freshman Meghan Carey (South Hadley, Mass.) would find the first score of the evening off of a feed from Maggie Burchill (Braintree, Mass.).
- The second half would begin with another shot, missing wide, from Davis. American Int'l found their first scoring opportunity in the 39th minute as Justine Lalli attempted to get a shot past Falterer, with no success. At 43:25 in the third period sophomore Meghan Smith (Uxbridge, Mass.) grabbed her sixth score of the year off of feed from Abby Breznyak (Oakland, Maine). Using this score as momentum the Hawks would find their third score in the 48th minute of the competition as Lewandowski would push through the defensive line solo, ripping a shot at the keeper, and capitalizing off of her rebound for a score. Two more shots would be added to the Saint Anselm total before a fourth goal would fall into place for the Hawks from Marissa Politano (Acton, Mass.). Less than three minutes later the home team found their footing scoring their first goal of the evening from Lalli. The last effort from American Int'l would be successful as they close the gap within two with 13-second left to play.
