A few minutes later, Assumption strung three shots in a row with senior Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) producing a block followed by a save from junior Annabella Lalande (Lachute, Quebec). At the 7:20 mark, sophomore Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.) slotted the puck past Greyhounds goalie Jadyn Weiser to give Saint Anselm the early 1-0 edge.
- The Greyhounds quickly responded by tying the game back up at 1-1 thanks to a score by Emma Gurnell on a power play opportunity. Schneiderhan ripped two quick shots back-to-back midway through the first period that Weiser was able to save. Both teams continued to exchange shots until junior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) scored the go-ahead goal at the 17:08 mark off the assist from Ella Ridge (Chicago, Ill.) and freshman Hailey Tullo (Southwick, Mass.) to give the Hawks the 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
- Lalande was tested early in the second period after denying a shot by Ella Rago in the opening minute of the period. Assumption would then earn their second power play chance of the evening featuring a shot on target by junior Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.) that Weiser denied. After killing the Greyhounds power play, the Hawks offense took control outshooting Assumption 10-1 during a four-minute span, respectively.
- Later in the period, Assumption went on another power play posting five total shots with two on frame that Lalande was able to save. At the 18:02 mark, Teagan Vaughan was whistled for a high stickling penalty to give Saint Anselm the man-advantage. A few seconds into the power play, senior Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.) found the back of the net, her sixth power-play goal of the season, to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead at the end of the period.
- Assumption wasted no time in the third period after Ava McGaffigan scored an unassisted goal at the 1:07 mark to cut Saint Anselm's led to just one goal. Senior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.) ripped the first shot on goal of the period for the Hawks that Weiser saved. Near the midway point of the period, the Greyhounds connected six consecutive shots with Lalande posting four more saves along with a block by senior Abigail Blair (Grand Island, N.Y.).
- The Hawks earned their second power play chance of the game at the 10:10 mark after a cross-checking call on the Greyhounds. Senior Savannah Popick ( ) fired two of the four shots in the power play for the Hawks but the Greyhounds would preserve the 3-2 score line. After killing two late Assumption power play opportunities, junior Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) would eventually cement Saint Anselm's 4-2 win over Assumption thanks to her score at the 18:23 mark off the helper from Tulchinsky.
