HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm took an early 1-0 lead thanks to junior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) finding the back of the net just under six minutes into the game. Freshman Courtney Stagman (Andover, Minn.), making her 19th start between the pipes for the Hawks, produced her fourth save of the opening period denying a shot attempt from Caisey Oetelaar. The Hawks continued to dominate in the Post's defensive zone registering seven consecutive shots with Eagles goalie Grace Glasrud making four stops.
- At the 13:08 mark, Oetelaar was whistled for a hooking penalty to give Saint Anselm the first power play chance of the afternoon. The Hawks posted five shots during the two-minute man advantage, but Glasrud would deny all five shots to help the Eagles kill Saint Anselm's first power play. Shortly after, Post would earn their first power play of the game with three minutes remaining in the period, respectively. Saint Anselm's defense shined after limiting Post to just two total shots with the extra skater and allowing zero shots on goal with senior Savannah Popick (South Windsor, Conn.) producing a block.
- The Hawks entered the second period with their one-goal advantage firing five shots in the first two minutes of play. At the 6:27 mark, the Eagles capitalized on their second power play opportunity with Julia Wysocki netting her fifth goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1.
- Approaching the midway point of the second period, Post was able to kill another Saint Anselm power-play after producing five shots, including two from Popick. Sophomore Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.) made a nifty move past an Eagle player and wristed a shot from the slot into the top right corner to reclaim a 2-1 advantage for Saint Anselm. Post would end the period earning two power-play chances combining for five shots on goal, all of which Stagman stopped to preserve the Hawks 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
- Saint Anselm began the third period by outshooting Post 11-to-3 in the opening nine minutes of the period, respectively. Shortly after the Eagles killed the third power-play for the Hawks, Popick notched her fourth score of the year off the assists from seniors Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.) and Celesta Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) to put Saint Anselm ahead 3-1.
- Less than two minutes after Popick's go-ahead goal, senior Natalie Tulchinksy (Clifton Park, N.Y.) registered an unassisted goal at the 14:00 mark to put the Hawks up 4-1. Stagman came up with two late saves along with a block by sophomore Sydney Merritt (San Jose, Calif.) to seal the victory over Post by a final score of 4-1.
