MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Anselm football team kicks off week four in high spirits, coming off a dominating defensive performance and a new-found running attack. The Hawks close out the third of three straight home contests on Family Weekend with a match-up against Post University.

Last Time Out - Saint Anselm
Fifth year captain Vincent Wagner (Staten Island, N.Y.) and junior Bowen Lewis (Austin, Texas) each rushed for 100 yards or more and the defense came up with five turnovers to give the Saint Anselm College football team their first win of the season in the Northeast-10 Conference opener against American International College on Saturday by a final score of 24-14. Saint Anselm held a 265-198 advantage in total yards of offense. The Hawks also had a huge edge on the ground, rushing for 216 yards on 48 attempts, while the Yellow Jackets rushed for just 23 yards on 29 attempts. Wagner led the way for Saint Anselm with 20 carries for 115 rushing yards and a score, while his backfield partner Lewis totaled 100 rushing yards on 15 carries. Saint Anselm also led the game with five turnovers after recovering four fumbles and blocking a punt for a touchdown. For the Hawks, Tempchin led the way with seven total tackles, five quarterback hits, and a sack, while Snyder recorded two pass breakups, a sack, a forced fumble, and a touchdown.

Last Time Out - Post
With both teams search of their first win of the 2023 season, Post University Football faced off against a tough Bentley University team which would hold them to just six points offensively while the Eagle defense held strong against the Falcons for the first half, making some key stops before ultimately letting up 21 second-half points in Post's 40-13 loss at Municipal Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Simon Burkett finished 12-of-23 with 115 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception while being sacked four times. Jermaine Tillery led offensively in receiving yards with 56 yards on six receptions while Joshua Tracey caught four passes for 54 yards and a touchdown

Series
The two programs met for the first time in 2022, with Saint Anselm earning the narrow four-point victory. Post elevated its Sprint Football program to NCAA football in 2021 and begins full associate membership in the Northeast-10 in 2023.

Look Ahead
Saint Anselm hits the road for its first road contest since Aug. 31 when the Hawks travel to New Haven, Conn. for a match-up against the Owls of Southern Conn. State.
